Volunteer At Jewish Senior Life!
Jo Strausz Rosen, Executive Director of Development
FRIVILLIG, BENEVOLE, VULLNETAR, DOBROVOLETS, VRYWILLIGER, SOKUZITHANDELA . . . In any language, it means VOLUNTEER.
“There’s so much work to be done in our service, so much work and the workers so few, that somebody else is getting weary and warn, just substituting for you. So, the next time you’re asked to do something worthwhile, come back with this ready reply, if somebody else can contribute their time, you can bet your last dime, so can I.”
Organizations used to be run by volunteers. The world is a different place now. Grandparents often work and/or care for their own parents, and at the same time, care for their children’s children. With such busy lives it is challenging to make time for others. But if you have the time and desire to help, volunteering fights against depression and so often leads to joy. Think about older adults who suffer from loneliness. You and your family can enjoy this experience together. Lower your own blood pressure and bring happiness to others as you visit with our residents. JSL NEEDS YOU! Consider a volunteer time slot as a sous chef or at the register in Marvin’s Bistro or the Krolik Cafe. Deal cards at the poker table, paint in the art room, play scrabble, canasta, bridge, Rumikuub, checkers, bingo, monopoly, chess, put together puzzles. The opportunities to mingle with our residents are endless. Meet good people, make new friends, do something important with your time. Think about your hobbies, research, travels and share these with us. Try something new and come play with us. VOLUNTEER AT Jewish Senior Life.
