Manny and Nancy Kalef moved to their beautiful Meer apartment in March of 2016 and have been married for 40 years. After one date at the Steak and Ale, Nancy sensed she could show Manny how to love again. He was mourning his first wife and shared that he felt happy for the first time in 18 months after his date with Nancy.
They still hold hands and take great care of each other. She assembles their meals in their gorgeous kitchen when not busy with her duties as secretary of the Resident Council, soon to be President… Manny shops, does the dishes and pays the bills, always happy to help. Nancy is their social secretary and they are busy with many new friends. Constant huggers and doting on each other, they are loved by their 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Manny works out daily on his treadmill. They had busy lives before they moved here and continue to live fully. Manny was with Domestic Linen Supply for 64 years as their accountant. Nancy was a Head Hunter and then a successful professional organizer. Manny attends minyan twice weekly at Beth Ahm in West Bloomfield, but it’s harder and harder to get out during this Michigan cold spell. They both drive at night. Their secret to their successful marriage is that they will each drop everything for the other when a hug is requested. Being in the room with them as they gaze into each other’s eyes is magic.
