I have been privileged to work with older adults for many years and in many different ways…as a caregiver, in programming support, as business and office manager and in administration. I have completed the Certified Assisted Living Director program through the Michigan Center for Assisted Living, as well as the Certified Dementia Practitioner program through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. It is my personal belief that those who care for older adults must also be well cared for themselves so they can give their very best each and every day! I am honored to serve the residents of Fleischman Residence and together we will provide each resident with their best day possible!
Teresa Pierson, RN
Director of Nursing
My name is Teresa Pierson the Director of Nursing. I graduated from Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. I have been a Registered Nurse for 18 years. Prior to that I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CENA) and a Paramedic. I have always loved working with older adults. It gives me such joy to see all the smiling faces here at Fleischman. I have been married for 25 years and have two children, a 22 year-old girl and a 20 year-old boy. My office is always open to the residents and their families to come and talk.
Resident Services Coordinator
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona and taught kindergarten for a few years thereafter. I then decided to continue my education in New York, where I obtained my master’s degree at Yeshiva University. From there, I relocated to Tampa, FL where I practiced social work for 20 years at a women’s hospital, and built my family. I now have two sons, Josh, 20, who is studying at Michigan State University, and Jake, 18, who is studying at the University of Arizona. I am very dedicated to my work, and our residents and am grateful to be part of such a supportive Jewish community.
I am Mary Saggau Blowers, Activities Coordinator at Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza. I am lucky to be here – using my energy, enthusiasm and imagination working with, and for, the residents at Fleischman. I attended Michigan State and Washington University in St. Louis and am an audiologist by degree. I worked in that field for many years. While raising my five children, I began volunteering in different capacities with seniors in area retirement facilities and nursing homes. Being of service, hearing their stories and sharing laughs with them were experiences I greatly enjoyed. I began working in a senior community center in Grand Rapids and after moving to the Detroit area, I was fortunate to find a similar position at Jewish Senior Life.
Dining Room Manager
As Fleischman Dining Services Manager, I strive to provide the highest quality service and daily experience for our residents. After spending nearly 15 years in the restaurant industry prior to joining Jewish Senior Life in 2014, I feel my work ethic and knowledge of food quality and service has become a fresh and improved change to daily operations. I enjoy being a part of our residents’ life and their care. Knowing that I can make even a small difference in their comfort by helping provide a quality meal and respect from our dining room staff fills me with pride and satisfaction. We must always remember this is our residents’ home. I hold a BA in Hospitality Management from Michigan State University.
I’ve worked in the realm of health care for 19 years with 16 of those years at Henry Ford Health System. My work experiences range from pediatrics, geriatrics, community health, corporate Human Resources and much more. I graduated from Walsh College of Business and Accountancy with a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Health Services Administration. My goal is to foster positive relationships with residents and families while providing excellent service. My favorite past times are spending time with family and traveling.
I’ve been a JSL employee for nearly two years. Prior to working for Jewish Senior Life, I worked for a Fortune 500 company for over 16 years in the Marketing field. As Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza’s Admission Consultant, I work with the marketing department to ensure prospective residents, family members and agencies have the materials they need to make informed decisions regarding care. I provide personal tours of our building, which allow me the opportunity to connect with potential residents and their families. I look forward to meeting you at Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza!
